For years I yearned for a Vita-Mix. One day I felt like the time had come for me to invest the money to purchase one. I bought it in 1996 and never regretted spending the money for it. I enjoy my Vita-Mix as much now as I did then.
After I got my Vita-Mix, my parents were so impressed that they too bought one, then my uncle bought one. Later both of my sisters got one. Once someone sees just how amazing this machine is, they want one for themselves!
I am able to create fat-free ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbets, almond milk, or make delicious hot soups in minutes! Most of all, I enjoyed making a combination of different fruit and vegetable drinks, protein shakes or smoothies. Since you use whole foods when making juice, it makes it possible to use much less fruit or vegetables. In addition to saving you money by not using as much fruits or vegetables, you also don't lose any of the valuable fiber like you would when using an ordinary extractor style juicer.
As of June 2008, I have started making green smoothies in my Vita-Mix. I didn't realize that starting out, you can just add 1 leaf of romaine lettuce to your regular fruit smoothie. Each day, you add a little more until you reach the point where you still find it tasty. You can also sweeten it a bit by using, dates, Agave Nectar or Stevia. I now alternate the type of greens I use in my green smoothies. I don't find it necessary to use additional sweetners anymore. It is a great way to get more greens into my diet without having to eat more salads each day.
As of March 2009 I learned how to make energy soup in my Vita-Mix. It is packed full of nutrients and enzymes. This has become a regular staple of my living food lifestyle, and I make it every day.
Recently I bought a new liquid container for my Vita-Mix. Even though my Vita-Mix is over 13 years old, it looks and works like new!
Because of the many uses I have for my Vita-Mix, there is hardly a day that I don't use it two or three times.
